“You wasted years of your life,” my mom told me the other day.
“Imagine if you never worked at restaurants…or poured time and energy into all those business ideas that never panned out.”
I replied, “If I never did any of that, I would never be able to do what I do now.”
She was speechless.
No experience was ever “wasted”.
All those years I spent as a server (long ago) taught me about time management, sales and how to use psychology to make more tips.
The time I spent in sales pushing high-end electronics (with endless upsells) set the foundation for my copywriting skills.
And I’m proud of all my failed businesses.
They taught me how to gracefully accept failure, rejection and critical feedback…over and over, for years on end…without letting it defeat me.
How did your past shape who you are today?
